UPSC Civil Services Examination: Supreme Court asks, can the date of uploading EWS certificate be extended
UPSC Civil Services Examination

The Supreme Court has issued a notice to CAT seeking an answer as to whether the fixed date for submitting or uploading the certificate for taking EWS reservation in UPSC examination can be extended. Justice R.F. Nariman’s bench has sought an answer in the matter in two weeks. The case has come against the decision of the Delhi High Court, in which the court upheld the order dated 13 January 2020 of CAT. CAT argued that EWS reservation is being given for the first time in the country and people do not know about its benefits nor know how to use it. This is the reason why the people taking advantage of this could not get EWS certificate till 01 August 2019. On this, CAT had given permission to jam the certificate till 16 August 2019. However Kat refused to pursue this date. UPSC Civil Services Examination
UPSC and students filed a petition in the High Court against this decision. While UPSC was unhappy with CAT’s date-extending order, students were unhappy about not extending the date any further. The High Court upheld the decision of CAT. UPSC and students have come to the Supreme Court against this decision.
